On June 8th, the City Council of Island Park passed a resolution not to support the alternative routes the Idaho Transportation Department has suggested for developing I-20. HFWA is very glad to see that the reasons for the resolution by the City of Island Park included in large part the potential impacts to wildlife migration, habitats, and wildlife-vehicle collisions. HFWA recognizes the need to improve safety and mobility for all uses on US-20. However, HFWA would like to echo the City Council’s concerns and looks forward to resolving these concerns with ITD so that all of Island Park’s wildlife can be sustained and enjoyed by all who live and visit there. Read the full resolution below.
This comes less than a month before another open house ITD is holding with the public to gather feedback and share alternative routes for I-20. Two evenings for the open house will be held:
Monday, June 26, 2023, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Ashton Community Center and Library
Tuesday, June 27, 2023, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Island Park EMS Building
Information regarding the I-20 PEL process and suggested alternatives can be found here: ITD Project Website
